In R33 V-Spec guise, the few official UK imports of the GT-R produced from 1997 onwards managed to pump out a mighty 277bhp at 6800rpm, which translated into an artificially limited top speed of 155mph and a 0-60 time of less than five seconds. This placed the Skyline GT-R well and truly in the supercar performance league, a previously undiscovered sector of the market for Nissan. When Autocar magazine first tested the GT-R, it was mightily impressed: “What distinguishes the Skyline from most other ultra-quick transport is that it successfully blends a huge amount of technological achievement with an even bigger level of tactile communication.”
