Does Admiral offer classic car insurance?

Does Admiral offer classic car insurance?

Everyone has heard of Admiral* car insurance, but can they help if you have a classic car to insure?

What kind of insurance does Admiral offer?

Admiral is one of the better-known car insurance brands thanks to a combination of regular TV ads and being a frequent result on price comparison sites. The firm makes frequent references to the fact that it offers discounts for multi-car policies and black box insurance that can help young drivers reduce their premiums.

What is less well-known however is that Admiral does offer policies specifically tailored to suit classic cars as well more conventional vehicles. That means there is the potential for good savings if you insure your daily driver and your classic through Admiral to take advantage of the multi-car discount. Admiral classic car policies also include up to 90 days of European cover, stereo cover and windscreen repair.

What kind of car qualifies as a classic?

Admiral’s definition of a classic car is a little more strict than some comparable providers, the main point being that the car must be over 35 years old but less than 70 years old - that means cars built between 1940 and 1982 approximately. If your car is slightly outside this criteria it might still be worth obtaining a quote. The other key stipulation is that the car is worth between £1,000 and £25,000, the latter figure lower than some specialised insurers.

How do I get a quote from Admiral?

Admiral’s* website encourages you to call them in order to obtain a quote as there is no facility to obtain one online for classic car policies. Putting your classic car details into price comparison sites may well result in some quotes from Admiral, but it is unlikely they will be as competitive as those obtained directly especially as Admiral operates an agreed value policy on classic cars on completion of an agreed valuation form.

Like almost all insurers these days you can get a quote from Admiral Insurance by visiting their website and filling in the relevant forms, but the firm says to get the very best rates you should call them directly and speak to their knowledgeable staff who are well-versed in providing quotes for classic cars. You can even fill in a ‘call me’ form with some details and a representative will call you back at a convenient time.

Admiral Insurance can be contacted on 0330 134 3204

How much does insurance from Admiral cost?

As with any insurance quote many factors influence the final figure, particularly with classic car insurance where the valuation of a vehicle can vary on its age and condition. The below examples are based on a limited mileage policy with the recommended excess figure.

How do I make a claim?

Admiral gives you the option to start a claim via a dedicated form on their website, or by telephone to the dedicated claims call centre which is open 8am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Saturdays and 10am to 4pm Sundays.

Can I insure three cars at once?

I am the 'owner' on paper of two vehicles and my wife the owner of the third. On each vehicle we have legal cover and no claims cover. Do we have to do this three times or is it possible to get all the cars under one policy?
Various insurers offer multicar insurances: http://www.primoplc.com can arrange all your insurances: house, car, boat, motorcycle on the same policy. Admiral Multicar can gradually move all your cars to the same policy as their existing insurances expire. LV= and Direct Line also offer multicar insurances.
