Zagato showcased at the heart of the show: Techno-Classica 2014

Published 31 March 2014

For 2014, and for the first time in the Techno-Classica's history, the Italian coachbuilder and carmaker, Zagato took its turn in the centre stage Hall Six, with some of the most impressive cars in its history.

This is always a prime spot - and it's hosted some amazing displays during the past 26 years. Hightlights have included cars from the Louwmann Collection, coachbuilt specials from the 1930s and the largest gathering a Pegasos ever assembled.

The company, established in 1919 in Rho near Milan as Carrozzeria Zagato, has weathered the economic storm and remains in business as body-manufacturing companies, building some extraordinary Alfa Romeo-based specials. So, for its 95th company birthday, the Techno-Classica organiser SIHA, ensured that the marque was celebrated in style, surrounded by some of the most exclusive dealers and auction houses.

The cars on display included Zagato specials from Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Maserati, and Lancia. The Alfa Romeo TZ (for Tubolare Zagato, above) and 1900 SSZ (below) are typical of the company's amazing back-catalogue.
