Why and how it went wrong

I have to congratulate MG/Rover for reintroducing to me something that had eluded my wife and I for possibly the last 3 -5 years ... rust! On a 2003 53 plate car. my old 2001 Seat Leon was spotless! The battery randomly discharges itself (yes, a new one has been fitted, in fact it's on it's third) Despite several auto electricians attempts, including disconnecting the electric sun roof. Lucky us, this is one of the rare ones with air conditioning. however, no one has managed to work out what's causing that. The fan resistor has gone, leaving us with only the two highest fan speeds. All the speakers are now blown, and we've had to change the alarm key fobs, they (the originals) wore out. There is some good points, which are that rust aside the paintwork is a deep lush finish and hard wearing. I find the seats comfortable, the road holding is great, and they do look good, both 3 and 5 door versions. Overall, a nice design, poorly built and executed. It mirrors a 1990 G plate Lancia Delta GTi.e. that I once owned. A nice chuckable car when it ran without fault, which wasn't often. That car was laid low by gear selector linkage breakages and electrical maladies - oddly though, minus any rust! how the heck are we going to get rid of this car?
