Fun

Midgets can be summed up in one word, fun! This is my 8th (among 67 cars owned over 40 years) and not the best condition body-wise, yet shiny enough and solid where it matters.

Making small changes brings enhanced performance and comfort. Mine has MGF leather seats so I can drive it all day, and a double duck hood to keep out the worst of the weather.

I've also fitted an electric fan and modern sensor to operate it, electronic ignition, an LCB exhaust and suitable air filters, oil cooler and thermostat, moved the ignition to the dashboard (gives more leg room) and fitted Minilite wheels with Yokohama 165 width tyres.

Still slower than your gran's shopping car, but great fun to hurl around as even low speeds feel fast. I've owned modified MGBs in the past but even with 130 bhp a 'B' is not as much fun as a 65 bhp Spridget. Prices are really low but there are stacks of the wee beasties around.

If you fancy upsetting Porsche drivers you can go to town on these cars, adding a K series motor, five speed 'box, uprated suspension and brakes and lighter body panels, but budget £10k (2018) to do that.
