Mercedes-Benz 190 (1983 - 1993)
190E 2.0 Auto
These classics will go stratospheric, simply superb!
I'm an ex car dealer. I've bought and sold hundred's of cars. I rate the Mercedes 190 as possibly the best car you can, yes, still, 17 year's after its demise, you can buy.
My latest version is a 1991 J plate 2.0 litre petrol with the automatic gearbox. Its done just 123,000 miles and looks wonderful in metallic blue. It's showing a gentle patina (age) but inside is as new. As John say's, the seats last, and last! The engine is relaxed and punchy and the car belies it's near 20 years sticking with modern traffic easily. I put the car in for an MOT and it failed on a slight leak to the fuel line. Two screws tightened on the filter and it passed, colours flying. How much did I pay for this car? £300.
It is so good it is my daily driver. Now, I've had some fine machinery in my time, last year I sold 6 figures worth of cars, and the one I keep is the 190.
These cars turn heads, you get let out of junctions and they love to sit in lane 3 of the motorway. Sure, they are old, and yes they are juicier than a modern car. BUT. They are totally dependable, reliable, rugged and easily maintained. Better still for all you credit crunch victims, these puppies are depreciation proof.
Ladies and gentlemen, you really don't need anything else. Buy a Mercedes Benz, buy a 190E.
