Suzuki SJ Gets the Treatment in 'Flipping Bangers'
A lichen coated Suzuki SJ gets hauled out of a scrapyard to be fixed and flipped by Will Trickett and Gus Gregory in Friday’s episode of Flipping Bangers on BLAZE at 9.00pm.
To make a living from buying, sorting and selling old and unloved cars, Will and Gus have to reckon on doubling the purchase price on resale. And, for added jeopardy, they only give themselves 5 days to get the job done, starting an online auction of the car as soon as it reaches their workshop.
In episode 4, they fancy doing a ‘4x4. But what they can buy for their meagre budget restricts the choice to a mouldering SJ owned by one of Will’s friends.
Once extricated they find it’s relatively rust-free, but filthy from sitting outdoors for years. There are even things growing inside so, as well as the exterior, they have to get-wash the cabin.
The SJ’s engine isn’t running sweetly and they soon discover other issues, including a leaking fuel tank.
But even after all these are fixed, the Suzuki looks awful, as well as silly on ridiculous oversize wheels.
With less than a day to go, Gus finds a cheap way of painting the car for less than £100. But can they transform it in time?
At the end of the show, the guys take the car to the only place the SJ was really designed for: a 4x4 track.
The 10-part series showcases transformations of classic cars from the VW Beetle to the Morris Minor. A BMW Z3 also gets bought and flipped.
Watch the show at 9.00pm on Fridays at BLAZE on Freeview 63, Freesat 162, Sky 565 and Virgin Media 216.
