Edd China returns with E-type resto

Published 04 June 2018

Edd China will return to our screens with a new series following the restoration of an E-type - and he needs YOUR help. The former Wheeler Dealers star new show will be called Built by Many and follow the progress of the 1968 Series 1 fixed-head coupe.

Along with friend and co-presenter Al Cox, Edd will work with the audience to rebuild the car and the series will run in ‘real time’ with production of a range of ‘how to’ videos – all taking place under the watchful eye of Jaguar authority Philip Porter.

Viewers will be encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help work on the car. There will be regular YouTube updates, there will lots of tie-ins like an E-type restoration book, and monthly updates in the E-type Club magazine and Practical Classics.

Edd said, ‘We want to celebrate our automotive heritage by keeping classics cars on the road. Not just housed in museum collections or rusting away at the back of a shed! I’m all for the preservation of historic vehicles and want to get this beauty back on the road for all to enjoy. I’m looking forward to being a grease junkie again and inspiring others to join me on this road trip.’

I miss the big edd china. Big as tall. King of the tv handshakes. Good idea but e type not your everyday classic car. Thst most of us can afford. What ever it is make it accesible to the generall public . Like quest tv channel. Your classic car show at the nec stuff was good. Connecting with the public etc. You were right about wheeler dealers. The yanks want to take everthing over. Its all about the money. Thats why mike brewer followed tbe money. Your the one we all want to watch. Best of luck.

Welcome back Edd and enjoyed your Norwegian Golf GTI restoration. Your presentation is exactly what makes it interesting and real for true car enthusiasts. I hope to see many more episodes and see the Revival Show evolve into the leading show for car restoration. I may be requesting help on a 1989 Jaguar XJS based in southern California Agoura Hills area, not Orange County !
Best of success.

When will Edd China get his own show back on mainstream tv who knows but until then we have the YouTube presentations of real time car restorations. He has the wonderful knack of making complex mechanical restoration appealing to the comman man. We may never do it ourselves but love watching it!

Just wish Ed Would rebuild something for me. Love classic Sports cars.
Unfortunately I am now too old and slightly infirm to do any of this stuff myself. Still driving though, Nothing spectacular but its suits my means and pocket, Its a 2003 Mercedes 220D Avantgarde Reliable, frugal on fuel, Comfortable and does all I want it to do. Low milage and so good to drive.
But must admit I would love something a bit sportier. at the age of very near 78 I suppose its a bit ambitious. But Hey you are only hear once.Best of luck Ed and enjoy it I know there ate thousands like me who will love it.

Just read a comment about being too old to rejuvenate older cars. I'm 77 and still thoroughly enjoy getting my hands dirty. Latest project is a 1999 Alfa GTV.
What I would like Ed to do is to get a suitable cheap used laptop. Source low cost but good software and put together a garage type diagnostics tool capable of resetting ABS/SRS . Ed may need an autoelectrician to help with this but hey if anybody can do it , Ed can.
Go Ed. We're all with you.....

Like I said "I" am too old and somewhat infirm, Fell off a ladder 4 years ago and now have constant back pain when walking. Docs said no cure. Live with it, 3 different cancers. diabetic But hey I am still here on Gods Green Earth. No complaining just telling it like it is OK Best wishes with your resto.

What a great shame the unique partnership between yourself and Mike has been brought to an untimely end. Yet again, money before quality, but the new producers will soon learn!
Your detailed input is what viewers want- even my wife does not miss the programmes.
I hope there will be plenty of repeats to enjoy and we wish you all the best with your own new series.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
Merle and Roy ( International Records.)
