Car SOS tackles a Mk1 Volkswagen Golf GTI
Published 23 April 2015
The Car SOS boys have brought a Volkswagen Golf GTI back from the dead.
The 1982 MkI GTI belongs to trainee building surveyor James, a man who has been suffering from a debilitating headache for the last decade.
James was too ill to rebuild his beloved car so his family’s contacted the Car SOS team - Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townshend - to breathe new life into this 1980s icon.
But all those years in a damp garage hadn't been kind to the GTI, and when Tim and Fuzz get to work they found that this hot-hatch is a bit of a damp squib.
And that wasn't the only problem. Fuzz and ex-boy racer Tim had very different ideas of how the finished car should look.
