Restored 1950 Jowett Jupiter race car for sale
A Jowett Jupiter with a racing history is going under the hammer. The Bradford-built sports car has been recommissioned and could fetch up to £42,000 at auction on 21 March.
This Jupiter achieved competition success with a record-breaking class win at the 1950 Le Mans 24 Hour race, a class one-two in the 1951 Monte Carlo International Rally. It also took an outright win in the 1951 Lisbon International Rally, and a class one-two in a four-hour sports car race on the public road circuit at Dundrod in Northern Ireland in September the same year.
It comes with period photographs of the car racing, before it was put into storage in 1969. In 2015, the car was taken out of storage and restored over a two-year period – photographs of the work are also included in the sale.
The car is part of H&H Classics' auction at Duxford Imperial War Museumon, Cambrdigeshire, on Tuesday, 21 March. To find out more about the sale, visit: handh.co.uk.

I have always thought the Jowett Jupiter was an ugly car. Why is the bonnet and scuttle so high ? It's got a flat 4 engine after all.A great and interesting racing pedigree though.
