Dunlop Strike Halts Production

2200 BMC Workers Laid off
At least 2200 workers at the Morris Motors factory at Cowley , Oxford , who were working on the Morris and MG 1100’s , have been laid off because of the Dunlop strike at Coventry.
The stoppage in Oxford is due to a shortage of suspension units produced at Coventry No.3 Works of Dunlop Wheel and Rim Company , where 500 workers have been on strike for 12 days after the dismissal of two shop stewards.
A British Motor Corporation official at Birmingham said Mini car production at Birmingham and Oxford will stop today . Several thousand workers will be affecteD.
Coventry officials of the Transport and General Workers Union and the Amalgamated Engineering Union said yesterday that their national executives had given official recognition to the strike , and will distribute strike pay.
