Published 16 July 2013

A 1969 Fiat Gamine Vignale once owned by Enid Blyton's company, and painted to match the famous car that children's book star Noddy drove is coming up for sale at Silverstone Auctions' 27 July event. The car is estimated to fetch between £20,000-25,000, and should prove quite a hit for those with a a particular nostalgia for the tales of Noddy and Big Ears.

The car which, is almost an exact mirror of the one that starred in Enid Blyton’s timeless classic Noddy and his adventures in Toytown, is based on the Fiat 500, and is one of several coachbuilt specials based on Italy's favourie classic that you can actually afford. The car on offer is fitted with a larger capacity Fiat 126 594cc engine and syncromesh gearbox.

It has had four owners and only covered a believed 4553 miles from new. Most recently it has been looked after by marque specialists Middle Barton Garage in Oxfordshire. Will Smith, classic car specialist, Silverstone Auctions, said: 'We expect a huge amount of interest in this Noddy Car from Enid Blyton fans and Fiat collectors, and who can blame them for wanting to get their hands on a car that takes us back to our childhood. The number plate – NOD 513 – is the finishing touch which makes this unique car extra special and we can’t wait to see how it does at our auction on 27 July.'
