Top 10: Classic cars to see at the NEC restoration show
This year’s NEC Restoration and Classic Car Show returns to Birmingham on 28-29 March. Now double in size of the inaugural outing, everything is bigger! The number of clubs, the number of stalls in the Autojumble, and the number of cars entered into the Pride of Ownership display. These cars have all been lovingly restored in garages up and down the country, and are now ready to be showcased, inspiring some folk to get their project finished and making other green with envy! Mark Stewart’s Austin Seven Van
‘It was in a sorry state when I bought it, having stood in a barn for decades.’ Mark Stewart’s fully restored his Austin Seven van, from metalwork and interior retrimming to a whole new ash frame. ‘It’s as original a spec as I could get it, and as there was evidence of the original signwriting when I got it I could recreate it. It’s full of tools and parts not in case of breakdown, but as part of the period display. It used to belong to an Austin garage in Edinburgh, so it’s appropriate.’
