14 May 1963
FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
OXFORD, MAY 13
The 14 women employees at the Morris Motors radiators branch canteen at Oxford who have been on strike since Tlhursday have won their fight for more pay.
Mr J. Doig, a director of the Scottish Industrial Catering Company, of Preston, which employs them, said today that they would be given the threepence-an-hour increase, backdated to April 1, for which they were asking. This will bring their hourly wage up to 2s. 9d., in line with other canteen workers in the area. Trade union representatives at Morris Motors cars branch at Oxford were unsuccessful today when they pressed for the reinstatement of a worker dismissed recently for alleged bad work.
