1955:
Citroen DS19 launched to the surprise of the World. Despite very long develpment using 'Traction' models, the self-leveling hydropneumatic suspension was revolutionary. The brakes and gearshift were powered (not power assisted). Terrible, slow, long-stroke 1,911cc OHV engine dated from 1934. Hills could be a challenge.
1963:
Normal clutched 4-speed gearnbox became available.
1966 - 1975:
DS 19, 20, 21 and 23 gradually introduced. Engines all short-stroke: 1985cc, 2,175cc and finally 2,347cc for the DS23 Pallas with fuel injection and 140HP.
