Reliable bombproof economical

I gave 2k for my Passat 4 years ago..It's the best 2 thousand I ever spent on a car..One small weakness they have is a propensity for the front wings to rot around the wheel arches. I had mine replaced at a cost of 300 a few months back and it looks like a new motor. Starts first time every time. Heated leather seats are wonderful. and she will give 40+ to the gallon ( this is an automatic) as long as long you don't go daft with your right boot . The odd occaision when I have floored it the acceleration is unbelieveable for an oil burner. although it's a large hatchback (coupe style) the back seats drop down , I have carried 3.2 meter pipes without much fuss. 14 years old and it is a more reliable and comfortable motor than many half her age. carries five adults comfortabely and you could hold a dance in the boot
