Metro work resumed after two-day strike
26 November 1980
From Clifford Webb Birmingham
Production of BL's new Mini Metro restarted last night after a two-day shutdown caused by a strike of 130 seat-assemblers at Longbridge. A peace formula reached late on Monday night was accepted by the strikers yesterday.
Work began immediately to clear the backlog of 6,000. Metros awaiting front seats. Their despatch to dealers will be speeded by the workers' agreement to accept 12,000 seats from an outside contractor. The company has guaranteed that use of an outside contractor will not be repeated.
