Strife in Pamplona

British Leyland locked out about 1,700 workers at the week end in the strike-ridden city of Pamplona. During an uneasy truce between Government officials, the managements of a number of factories and workers, the total of strikers fell from 20,000 to about 7,000 by yesterday.

But British Leyland's Authi plant locked out all but about 100 of its 1,800 employees who refused to resume work. British Leyland recently bought out its Spanish partners. and is the sole owner of Authi. The workers who went back were promised by provincial authorities and the managements of several companies that they would find work for 17 shop stewards who were dismissed by the Motor Iberica factory, which is partially owned by Massey-Ferguson.
