26,000 Cars Still Wait For Lucas Components

More than 26,000 incomplete cars were stockpiled throughout Britain last night, waiting for electrical components missing slnce the Lucas strike, which ended over a month ago.
British Leyland is the worst hit, with nearly 14,000 cars waiting for dynamos. alternators, starter motors, headlamps aad rear light clusters. More than half of these are Standard-Triumph models and a further 6,000 cars are standing at Austin- Morris plants at Longbridge and Cowley. Rover said it was refusing to send out incomplete cars.
A company spokesman said: "We shall only despatch Rover cars which are absolutely ready for the customer."
