Car Workers Vote To Remove Stewards
FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
BIRMINGHAM. JUNE 4,
Workers in two sections of the British Motor Corporation tractor and transmissions branch at Birmingham have voted to remove their shop stewards from office, it was learnt today.
Last week a mass meeting passed a vote of no confidence in the shop stewards who led the recent strike at the factory. Mr F. W. Crowder, secretary of the Birmingham district committee of the Amalgamated Engineering Union, the union involved, said it seemed that the two meetings at which it had been shown that the shop stewards had "lost favour" among their colleagues had not been in accordance with constitutional practice.
