Strike-breakers' future in doubt?
12 February 1962
DAILY MIRROR
Lines and Diskin, who earn about £33 a week, can be either fined or expelled from the union. Mr Lines, married with three children, said last night: "Of course I shall attend the hearing. I am not afraid. I went to work like a man, and I will face my union like a man."
Diskin, a bachelor, was away from home at the weekend. But his mother said: "He will attend the meeting, no matter what it means to him. He is not frightened."
Mr. William Lapworth, Coventry district organizer of the TGWU, said: "If the men are expelled from the union, their work will be blacked. But this will not help to solve the Jaguar issue. The men on strike will not work with Lines or Diskin under any circumstances."
