Cowley pickets show restraint

Pickets from 11 unions showed restraint today as members of the Amalgamated Engineering Union reported for work at Morris Motors. An emergency meeting of the Oxford A.E.U. district committee and shop stewards from Morris Motors has been called for tomorrow. A member of the executive council, Mr C. Berridge, is expected to tell the shop stewards whether the executive council will back any withdrawal of labour.
The dispute threatens the launching of the new Mini-Morris which is due on the market on August 26. Its production at Cowley has been halted.
