Car Draughtsmen Strike Today

The first battle in the campaign for three weeks holiday a year for draughtsmen in the motor industry starts tomorrow. The 286 workers in the Pressed Steel Company's drawing office at Cowley will strike with the full backing of the Association of Engineering and Shipbuilding Draughtsmen.
Draughtsmen throughout the country have been urged to give an hour's pay a week until the claim is successful Members of the association have been asked to declare "black" all work being done for the Cowley factory. The claim for an extra week's holiday was made on January 2. It was reiected by the management of the Pressed Steel Co., who offered the extra week to men with five years' service with the firm after the age of 20.
Only about a third of the draughtsmen would benefit immediately from the offer.
