Car Factory Notices "Resented"

The management of Morris Motors Ltd., Oxford, have been asked by shop stewards to withdraw notices warning the workers that continued restrictions on output will cause the closure of the departments concerned.
The notices, signed by Mr R. E. T. Couch, director and general manager, told the employees: "Those of our employees who take part in such restrictions are in breach of their conditions of employment - . . and their contracts will be terminated forthwith."
The notices were posted after two unofficial strikes in the paint shop which lasted only a day each but seriously hindered production of new models. Mr L. Davies, chairman of the Amalgamated Engineering shop stewards in the factory, said this weekend that the notices bad caused strong resentment.
