What's causing my Peugeot 306 to go into limp mode?

I’ve got a Peugeot 306 auto; however, after five miles, the gearbox goes into limp mode and I can’t fix it. Can you help?

Take it to a member of who are far better equipped to deal with problems of this nature on a car of this age.
