Engine problems with T25 camper van - what's the cause?

I’m having some problems with my Volkswagen T25 camper van. It has started misfiring and losing power; the RAC cleaned the jets and things improved, but it’s still not running right. I’ve drained some fuel and it looks very cloudy with some sediment in it. Could this have damaged the engine?

It's an old vehicle so there could be sediment in the tank, and there could be some sort of blockage in the filler. I'd suggest having it flushed out by a professional.
