  • VIN checker now costs 23 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Re autobaza.pl It would appear that this service now costs. A response like this: MODEL TAURUS, CORTINA, SIERRA, MONDEO, COUGAR is not a lot of use. Oh well it was good while it lasted for free. The Ford site does still expand from a nunber plate.

  • BBC 4 Tonight (Saturday) 11 Sep 2005 (Forum)
For those who have digital. 7.05 tonight BBC 4 are showing The Secret Life of The Ford Cortina. First screened in 1982 as part of the Arena series it is interesting and at times very funny. I caught the second half of it when they ran it earlier in the week. A great piece of eighties nostalgia.
  • Oil Filters 7 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I have a quantity of MotorCraft oil filters, part no EFL 90, which were originally intended for the 2 litre OHC Pinto engine fitted to the Ford Cortina range. These filters look the same physical size as those fitted to the 2.5 litre Ford DI Deisel in the Transit. The filter part number quoted
  • Cars getting bigger 7 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Can someone explain the logic in almost every new car being bigger , heavier , thirstier than the previous model e.g. Primera , Audi A4 , both cars i have had or got which have constanstly got longer.Time was with Fords if you wanted a bigger car than say a Cortina you bought a Granada , whots
  • What next for Ford after the 1.0 Ecoboost.... 1 Feb 2012 (Forum)
.................engine going in Focus size car. Well, apparently according to Ford engineers the next stage is downsizing of the cars themselves, and that means weight reduction and less drag. I say about time! Mondeo/Sierra/Cortina man no longer buys a Mondeo, because its the size
  • Top Ten 'Melting Motors' 6 Sep 2006 (Forum)
The Morris Marina topped the list of Melting Motors revealed yesterday (article dated 31st Aug 2006), with only 745 left on the road out of the 807,000 sold in the UK. Second place in the table compiled by Auto Express is the square-fronted Mark IV and V Ford Cortina, popular because it was cheap
  • Why do tyres blowout? 6 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I have only had one blowout, it was years ago in a Ford Cortina and was caused by a small sharp rectangle of metal being thrown up by the offside front wheel and going on to slice through the sidewall of the rear offside: Bang! I have heard of many blow-outs and often there is an obvious cause
  • Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 1998 1.2L - Front Disks and pads 8 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Hello all I need to fit front disks and pads, how easy is it? My Dad will help me who last fitted them to a Ford Cortina. i also need to fit some new rear flexible brake hoses, is this easy enough to be done or is it worth paying £100 for some one else to do it. Any advice will be appreciated :D
  • Cars named after places 30 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Overtaken by a Seat Cordoba the other day and started musing on cars named after places. Immediate ones that come to mind are: Fords Capri, Cortina (and I suppose, the Anglia). Morris Oxford Austin Cambridge Anything by Bristol or Lincoln Must be many more but can't think of any recent examples
  • What's the oldest driving school car you've seen? 17 Dec 2009 (Forum)
people can keep going. Have you seen anything older? I wonder if there is a niche market for a school using old Ford Cortina's or similar?
  • Peugeot 807 - first sighting? 18 Oct 2002 (Forum)
I am pretty sure I saw a Peugeot 807 yesterday - being driven through Ipswich in convoy with a Renault Vel Satis. Quite a striking sight. Expect an article next month in one of the motoring mags - 'Big Funny Looking French Cars - Group Test'. Saw a Ford Fusion as well, in a metallic beige/brown
  • Correct paperwork? 5 May 2005 (Forum)
Hi gang - a neighbour of mine is finally getting shot of the ancient Ford Cortina estate which has been in his garage for about the last 20 years having been stolen, involved in an accident, recovered and then purchased back from his insurers. He'd intended to restore the car but never got around
  • Mondeo road test 27 Dec 2001 (Forum)
its about 6" longer than the bmw.A4 The praised analogue clock on the ford cortina i had made an annoying ticking sound when stood. A friend of ours has the 1.8 estate Mondeo ,he just gave me a funny look when i mentioned the mileage claims and also made the comment of not moving to the new car quote
  • Ford Taurus - Owners Review 19 Apr 2015 (Forum)
and economy are ok, but not great, the car is the replacement for the Ford Crown Victoria, an american barge much liked by US Police and Saudi Police here in Riyadh. I am sure that cosmtically the Vignale will look good, like the Ford Cortina 1600E. But it will not stand up to anything of similar price
  • Getaway cars. 19 Oct 2003 (Forum)
There is a new film out called 'Stander' - I don't know whether it is/will be released in the UK. It is the true story of a South African cop turned bad, who becomes a bank robber... this all occurred in the early 80s. Features as his getaway car a Ford Cortina XR6 Interceptor. (as driven
  • Cheap to run cars 30 Mar 2001 (Forum)
I drive 20,000 miles a year (mainly commuting/business) but have little money to spend on purchase of vehicles. I have found that large old Fords (Cortinas, Capris currently a Granada) to be reliable, durable and reasonably priced (sub £500). They have the disadvantage of sub 30mpg. When I have
  • Focus cambelt. Replace at 40K ??? 15 Mar 2003 (Forum)
When should I change the cambelt on a 1999 2.0 petrol Focus? Ford Service Guide says 100K miles /10 years. Ford main dealer said 100K. "had no problems with them". Friend in the trade referred to his fat "Cam belt Bible" which said 1998- every 100K. but.... HJ Focus review says "some fleets
  • Luton or Dagenham? Ford or Vauxhall?? 1 Mar 2014 (Forum)
? Are you VIctorious in your Vauxhall or Fabulous in your Ford? Find vigour in your Viva or fun in your Fiesta? Cool in your Cavalier or ecstatic in your Escort, we could go on and on unlike most of the cars of the 60's & 70's. It would seem the loyalty shown to both brands was indeed very strong
