Subaru Impreza 2000 Turbo (1993 – 2001) Review
Subaru Impreza 2000 Turbo (1993 – 2001) At A Glance
The Subaru Impreza Turbo put its maker on the map in the UK. Before this rally-bred performance saloon came along, Subarus were bought by farmers, and were considered worthy but dull. Of course, that's unfair on anything with a flat-four and frameless side windows, but sometimes it just rakes a markieting push to get the message out.
And that was the case here. Subaru really made its name in Europe through rallying. Partnered up with Prodrive, the company created one of the most recognisable rally cars in history, the Impreza Turbo. After Colin McRae won the World Rally Championship in 1995, the Impreza became an instant classic. There are so many different variations of the Impreza, that it can be difficult making sense of it all, but the easiest rule of thumb is to stick to UK cars, and either find an early 2000 Turbo or go for an STi. Either way, you can’t go too far wrong.
