Maserati Shamal (1989 – 1996) Review

The Maserati Shamal was the second major development of the Biturbo. It was a Gandini-penned restyle that was powered by a 3.2-litre twin-turbocharged V8, DOHC and 32 valves engine producing some 326bhp. This was more than enough to give the interestingly named car supercar-baiting performance. Maximum speed was 168mph, and a 0-60mph time was 5.3 seconds.

Inside, the Shamal was just as luxurious as any other Biturbo - it had extended leather seat cushions, temperature control and the famous Maserati oval clock, which is situated in the centre of the dashboard. The gear lever was also finished in elm. But the thing that most people will like the Shamal for were its Countach style rear wheel arches.
