Citroen Saxo introduced

Bigger, better, stronger replacement for AX.

12' 2" long by 5' 3" wide and weighing from 805kg.

Quite refined. 1.1 is very economical. 125bhp 1.6 VTS very quick. Seem to be pretty good and relatively problem-free for a Citroen. Good value by UK standards. 58bhp 1.5 diesel does 55 mpg.

Citroen Saxo facelifted

Facelift includes galvanised panels, now with 12-year no-perforation warranty. Most gained PAS apart from 1.1 base models. SXs have switchable passenger airbags. 60bhp 1.1i LPG version available in Europe. Starter prices dropped to under £5,995 in spring 2000, including driver's airbag and radio/cassette.

1.6 VTR got boost to 100bhp for 2001 and gets to 60 in 9.4 seconds for just £8,995. Saxo First got power boost from 1.0 litre to 1.1 litres and 60bhp for same low list price of £5,995.
