Buying Guide
Good
- 1990 Replacement for old Aston Martin V8 which dated back to the 1960s.
- 5.3 litre 330bhp V8.
- Five-speed manual.
- Four speed auto from Jan 1993.
- Re-named V8 in April 1996.
- Received 350bhp and option of 6-speed manual box.
- Awesome supercharged V8 Vantage had 550bhp and six-speed box.
- Demand picked up again and a 35,000 mile 91J auto sold for £28,000 at a BCA Top Car auction in July 2001.
- Demand for good ones still reasonably strong.
Bad
- Unsuccessful.
- Launched during the supercar boom and went into a tailspin once the boom went bust.
- Extremely long gestation period.
- Auto only a three-speeder to Jan 1993.
- The engine alone is an enormous piece of hand built engineering. Potentially huge bills.
Watch
- Don't buy without full inspection by an Aston Martin expert.
