Jaguar XJ6/XJ12 (1968 - 1992)
XJ6
Great looks and fun to drive but low market value make this Jag a bargain for enthusiasts.
I've had several Series 3 XJ6s, and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. If you like the look and are bitten by the excellent driving quality, you had better be a tinkerer at least, or know of someone with whom you have an excellent rapport who is. Technical complexity makes these cars a labor of love. During their mid-market years, (when the fleet was between 7 and 14 years old) if the object of your desire was not well-maintained, it will have deteriorated considerably. Keep this in mind when buying. The early cars fare better than the Series 3 cars, which suffered greatly during Union/management squabbles that impacted build quality severely. Restored cars are much better than original survivors, with the exception of extremely low mileage examples (which still require serious going-over prior to purchase). I absolutely love these cars and will always have one in my garage (running or otherwise!)
