UNIONS WARN ROVER BOSS
Car union chiefs will issue a challenge today to the new Rover boss Graham Day ,to "come clean " about Austin Rover's future.
The state - owned company's workers fear Mr Day wants to chop up the firm and hive it off.
The years of peace at Rover could be shattered if Mr Day keeps his plans secret, said the unions. Mick Murphy, leader of the Austin Rover manual workers, challenged Mr Day on the eve of crucial pay talks. The unions will be demanding a pay rise of £10 a week when they submit their wage claim on Friday.
