Orr-Ewing steps down

2 March 1985

Jaguar said yesterday that Mr Hamish Orr-Ewing, the chairman, is "stepping down". The move, which caused some surprise in the City, comes less than eight months after Jaguar was floated on the stock market as part of the Government's privatization programme.

Mr Orr-Ewing is staying on as a non-executive director, while Mr John Egan the chief executive, is taking over the job of chairman as well. Two other Jaguar executives, Mr Kenneth. Edwards and Mr Michael Beasley are joining the board. Jaguar said there had been no personal clashes behind Mr Orr- Ewing move
