Advice To Return At Oxford

The 206 members of the Amalgamated Engineering Union on unofficial strike at the Pressed Steel Company, Oxford, who have brought the factory almost to a standstill, will be advised tomorrow to return to work.
After a communication from Mr. Claude Berridge. A.E.U. executive member responsible for the Oxford car factories, Mr Malcolm Young, the union's Oxford district secretary, will give this advice at a meeting in the factory to be attended by all workers involved in the pay claim. Mr. Young said today that this was being done-so that a meeting with the company to discuss the claim, offered for Thursday, could take place. The meeting will be attended by all seven unions with hourly paid workers in the factory.
Five thousand workers at the Pressed Steel Factory, which makes car bodies for Rootes. B.M.C.. Jaguar. Rover, and other manufacturers, have been made idle by the strike, which started last Thursday.
