Changes In Leyland Motors Group
Changes in the top organization of the Leyland Motors group are announced today following the Leyland-ACV merger.
They include the retirement of Sir Henry Spurrier from the position of managing director of Leyland Motors Ltd. to take over as executive chairman of a new group policy-forming company. The title of the new company. which will deal exclusively with group matters, will be announced in the near future.
All members of the existing Leyland board will be appointed to the board of the new company, Leyland Motors Ltd. will continue to administer the business of its Lancashire group of factories. Sir Henry Spurrier will remain as chairman with Mr Stanley Markland as deputy chairman and Mr Donald Stokes as the new managing director. Mr Markland will continue as managing director of Standard Triumph International and of Albion Motors, while Mr Stokes will retain his position of managing director of Scammell Lorries and sales director of the group.
