Car body workers on short time

CAR BODY WORKERS ON SHORT TIME

The Pressed Steel Company's factory at Oxford. which supplies a large section of the car industry with bodies is working short time: The reason is the falling off in orders for bodies, particularly for the popular ranges of car. So far only piece-workers are affected and those on a weekly rate are still working a full week.

A Pressed Steel official said today that there had been an extension of short-time working this week There is also short-time working this week at B.M.C.'s Morris Motors factory at Cowley, Oxford, where a shortage of materials has held up production of the Morris Minor 1000.
