Jaguar Men To Go Back
FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
COVENTRY, JUNE 28
A promise by the management to hold an investigation on the shop floor helped to end a strike at Jaguar Cars Ltd., Coventry, today. A total of 1,000 production workers have been idle as a result of the strike by 170 paint shop workers, who struck after 27 other painters had been dismissed for refusing to operate a new paint shop process. An investigation into the men's complaints is to be made.
The dismissed men and the management have agreed to regard the notices as non-effective. The dismissed men and other paint shop workers will return to work tomorrow and normal work will be resumed. The stoppage made the entire production labour force idle, and cost two days output.
