Dewar Trophy For B.M.C.

10 May 1960

FROM OUR MOTORING CORRESPONDENT

Lord Nuffield made one of his rare public appearances yesterday when he attended a luncheon at the Royal Automobile Club to receive on behalf of the British Motor Corporation the Dewar Trophy, which was awarded to the corporation, coupled with the name of Mr A. Issigonis, for the development of the Morris Minor and Austin Seven 850 cars.

Lord Nuffield said that these revolutionary little cars had shaken the world, and Mr G. Harriman, the B.M.C. deputy chairman and managing director, said that more than 35,000 of them, valued at £10m., had already been exported, including 5,000 to the United States.
