Morris Men Back At Work

21 January 1960

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
OXFORD. JAN. 20

A meeting of the 450 strikers from Morris Motors (Radiators Branch) decided this afternoon to return to work. The night shift will report tonight.

The decision was taken after the meeting heard from Mr Malcolm Young. chief shop steward, that an increase of 3d. an hour for both semi-skilled and unskilled workers could now be guaranteed as a minimum. Negotiations would reopen tomorrow with a view to increasing this offer. Several union speakers said they strongly believed that this offer would be improved if there was a return to work.
