Standard-Triumph In Bid Talks Talks

17 December 1959

are taking place between the directors of Standard-Triumph International and Alforder Newton Ltd., of Hemel Hempstead, with a view to Standard- Triumph acquiring the share capital of Alforder Newton for cash.

This was announced by Lord Tedder at the annual meeting in Coventry yesterday. No cash price was revealed.

Alforder Newton is a privately owned firm which manufactures all of the front suspensions for the Standard-Triumph range, and also supplies Jaguar Cars and other motor car manufacturers. The Standard-Triumph directors emphasize that it would be their intention to continue to reserve capacity for existing customers of Alforder Newton and to expand the business outside the Standard- Triumph group.
