Where can I find the date of manufacture on a car?

Is the date of manufacture shown on the information plates in the engine bay?

Yes, the year of manufacture of any car post-1980 can be determined by the 10th character in the VIN – it is shown by a letter, so A is 1980, B is 1981 and so forth, up to 2001 when this was changed to a number, so 1 represented 2002, 2 meant 2002 and so on. After 2009, the system went back to using the alphabet, with A representing 2010.
