Ford Escort – 1,165,231

Throughout the 1990s, the Escort wasn’t too far behind the Fiesta in terms of sales – not that Ford will have minded having so many popular models. Despite being replaced by the Focus in 1998, the Escort soldiered on alongside its more modern counterpart until 2000. The scrappage scheme removed plenty of tatty examples from UK roads, so relatively few are left – and most of those are showing their age.

We had Rover 820 (Automatic) 1993 Engine capacity 1994 cc
Bought new (ish)
Gave first class usage ;until scrapped in around 2014.Mileage about 80000 miles.
It was used as a multi trip vehicle ; pulling a trailer (often containing full beer barrels - about 6 to 8)
with 3 adults .
It had for its day about one of the best acceleration around and could compete with vehicles 10 to 15 years younger
Stylish - really the classic shape.

Here's a true classic.

A bit disappointed with the current styling but beyond a doubt Golf has become a legend. Some business advice will help with brand promotion. However must add that the styling has been going downhill since the MK1. With every ensuing generation it got worse until now. The current car - in isolation - is not a bad looking effort.
