Which Mercedes-Benz would be acceptable as a 'classic' under collector's multi-vehicle insurance?

I have a collector's multi-vehicle insurance policy through Footman James, which I have held for nearly 20 years. This policy allows only one modern car, which currently is a Lexus LS430 - a lovely and enjoyable car to drive. I would like to add a different modern car to the policy, and one solution would be to change the Lexus for a classic/collectible Mercedes-Benz four-door saloon (not a convertible) which would be acceptable to FJ. Unfortunately they won't tell me which models would be acceptable under the multi vehicle policy, but would respond with a "Yes" or "No" to what I put to them. Are you able to recommend a Mercedes that might fall into this category, that would be as nice to own and drive as the Lexus, and that I could buy for around £10,000 to £12,000 please?

A W123 E-Class, but this is nothing like as refined as a Lexus LS430: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/mercedes-benz/e-clas.../ Or a W126 S Class: classics.honestjohn.co.uk/reviews/mercedes-benz/s-class-w126/
