Has 74bhp 1.4 and 99bhp 1.6 16-valve belt cam Zetec 'S' engines plus same 113bhp 1.8 litre and 128bhp 2.0 litre (1,988cc) 16-valve belt cam Zetec 'E' engines as Mondeo. 1,753cc 89bhp Endura DI TDDI turbo diesel with direct fuel injection, an electronic "fly by wire" fuel injection pump, and a gemini chain to drive the fuel injection pump from the crankshaft, then a traditional belt between the fuel injection pump and the camshaft.
Three year warranty on Focus sold by UK Ford dealers from November 2000.
02-06-2001: Focus 'Black' special edition launched £12,495 price includes 1.6 engine, 15-inch alloys, mesh grille, Panther Black metallic paint, air-conditioning, black leather seats, 6000 series radio/CD and Quickclear front screen.
12-02-2002: Ford Focus gets facelift The 1.6 LX acquired standard alloys, a/c and CD player radio. Common rail TDCi development of 1,753cc diesel developing 115PS and 250Nm torque at 1,850rpm. This gives it a 0-60mph time of 10.5 seconds, a top speed of 120mph, a combined economy figure of 51.4mpg and a CO2 output of 145g/km. List prices started at £14,595 for the five door LX.
16-03-2002: Focus ST170 launched Price at £15,995 it's powered by Ford's 1,988cc belt-driven twin-cam Zetec/Duratec modified to deliver 170PS and 196Nm torque from 2,500 to 5,500rpm. Power is fed through a Getrag twin-shaft six-speed gearbox, offering 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds, a top speed of 134mph, a combined fuel consumption of 31.0mpg and CO2 emissions of 218g/km. Emissions conform to Euro 4.
01-10-2002: Focus RS introduced With 215PS the Focus RS is priced at £19,995. Combined consumption 28mpg, CO2 237g/km, small numbers and immediately sold at a premium.
12-03-2003: ST 170 Estate launched Priced at £17,245. TDCI 115 Sport and 115bhp 1.8 LPG added to range August 2003.
04-08-2003: Run-out specials included Focus Edge with 100PS 1.6 of 115PS TDCi. Kit includes twin airbags, ABS, 16-inch alloys, side airbags, a/c, CD. 1.6 Flight 3-dr with a/c and CD on offer at just £9,995.
