My late father once owned a Maestro Vanden Plas with the talking dashboard and automatic choke. We soon fitted a manual choke, but could do nothing about the irritating female inside the dashboard!

I have owned a red and silver ‘54 reg’ Smart ForFour 1.5 diesel since new. I bought for its quirky, but funky design. I think it has stood the test of time, and twenty years later (in my opinion) still looks contemporary - especially when compared to the newer model with its ugly snub nose. It’s now got 100k on the clock, but is so reliable. The only component I’ve had to replace is the compressor at 75k. It’s regularly serviced by Mercedes, and it’s great to hear that they’re starting to be collectible. Read more
