Heritage centre planned for Ford’s Dagenham site 4 Sep 2017 (News)

Take a break: Ford Escort Mk2 launch film 4 Feb 2014 (News)
Then take a break, and watch this lovely launch film of the Ford Escort Mk2 . This car was consistently the second best seller in the UK (behind the Cortina) for its entire five-year production run. It was cheap, simple to service, there was a dealer on every corner, and generally they were good to drive – even the basic 1.1-litre Popular models. -
Top 10: Britain's best-sellers of the last 50 years 27 May 2015 (News)
The UK’s best-selling cars have changed in style over the decades, with today’s sales charts being dominated by superminis, family hatchbacks and crossovers. But it wasn’t always so. Remember the days when the Ford Cortina was consistently at number one, and foreign manufacturers struggled to get anywhere near the Top 10? Amazingly though, despite many of the best-sellers of old having been out of production for many years, they’re still a force to be reckoned with when looking at overall figures for the last half a century. -
Comment: You never forget your first car 19 Dec 2016 (News)
You never forget your first car. Mine was a metallic green Ford Cortina, and I drove it everywhere. Over the kitchen worktop, along the skirting boards, over and under my pillow and occasionally around the school playground. I got it for Christmas in 1979, in one of those Matchbox boxes with the 'Superfast' artwork on the cover that was a lot more detailed than the model inside. -

A Grand Monday: Hyundai Pony 24 Apr 2017 (News)
That first Pony was utterly conventional, rear-wheel-drive, with a live rear axle and a chassis based loosely on that of the Ford Cortina. By the 1990s, though, the Pony was past it. Hyundai, however, was not. It had established a foothold in the European market, and one that today leaves the brand among the top ten car manufacturers in the UK, and one of the five biggest in the world. -

Take a break: Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2 launch advert 25 Mar 2014 (News)
This car turned around the fortunes for Vauxhall in the UK, having been launched in August 1981, just as the Ford Cortina was coming to the end of its life. And it was even better news for GM when the Sierra rolled out in the UK, where it proved rather unpopular with the boys in the fast lane. The big news was that the then-top model, the 1.6-litre (1.8s and 2.0s were rolled-out progressively from late 1982) produced a whopping 90bhp, and that was more than enough? -
A Grand Monday: Ford Sierra 2.3 Ghia 1 Apr 2014 (News)
When new, in the UK at least, the Sierra took a long time to capture the hearts of former Cortina owners, and it seems only now that these cars are finding a following in the classic car scene. It is interesting how in relation with the Cortina, the Ford Sierra is considered by many to be a failure. -
