Profumo Jaguar tops Race Retro auction 26 Feb 2014 (News)
Race Retro is the UK's biggest in- and outdoor classic motor sports show, and unsurprisingly, it was the racers that attracted the most attention at the sale, with 13 competition cars sold, netting almost £400,000. Cars included a 2000 Ford Mondeo Super Tourer (below), which fetched £103,500; a 1964 Lotus Cortina MkI race car for £53,000; a 1988 Ford Sierra Cosworth Group N Rally car, at £23,000; and a 1968 MG C V8 race car which achieved more than £21,600. -

Jaguar XK120 Makes £49,500 at Barons 9 Jun 2012 (News)
A Henley Green 1972 Jaguar E-Type S3 V12 roadster was the third highest-seller at Barons at £35,000. Highest sale price for a non Jaguar was achieved by a 1964 Mk I Ford Lotus Cortina at £30,500. Fifth highest seller was a LHD 1986 Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible, recently returned from Cyprus, sold for £26,960 to a German bidder. Barons’ next sale at Sandown Park is the Classic, Collectors, Sports and Prestige auction on July 17th. -

Nowadays, where can you see a proper Jaguar Mk2 running competitively, or, for that matter, a Lancia Flavia or Flaminia coupe, Alfa Romeo 2600 or early Giulia Ti, Vauxhall VX4/90, Mercedes-Benz 300SE, MG 1100, Mini 850, Ford Zodiac Mk3 or even an early model Ford Cortina GT? I know that many of these cars exist in historic race form, but most have been mothballed by disheartened owners, who have given up any hope of competing on a level playing field against over-developed homologation specials. -

Other vehicles making it into the Top 5 of most stolen classics at that time were the MkI and MkII Ford Escort, MkI and MkII Volkswagen Golf GTI and that perennial favourite, the VW Camper. Fords are particularly popular among classic car thieves, with a five-week period at the start of 2016 seeing no fewer than five Cortinas stolen in the Kent and London areas alone. -

Jaguar XK150S Roadster Makes £70,000 at Historics Auction Today 26 May 2012 (News)
A perfect condition 69,000 mile 1070 Ford Escort Twin Cam with original Webasto roof sold for £26,320 inc, a 16,000 mile 1978 Ford Escort RS2000 sold for £9,632, but a 78,000 mile LHD Cortina 1600E failed to sell at £8,000 as did a 41,000 mile 1962 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster, bid to £19,000. The ambitiously estimated RHD 1959 Isetta 300 bubble car failed to sell at £8,750. -

Nostalgic cars in the classifieds 1 Jun 2011 (News)
It looks to be in fantastic condition, too. Go back another decade and things look distinctly different. This Ford Cortina is even painted in a suitable 70s shade of brown/gold, and it’s still got its old fashioned number plate, complete with raised letters. The Cortina was the car of choice for family motorists back then, and this model is a top spec GXL complete with vinyl roof and fitted with a 1.6-litre OHC engine. -
Amazingly Diverse Entry in Historics 13th July Classic Car Auction 28 Jun 2019 (News)
1968 Ford Cortina Savage. The Uren Savage was a Mk II Cortina fitted with a 3.0 litre Essex V6 from the Capri. They were commissioned by Willment race team boss Jeff Uren and built by Weslake Engineering. Only around 900 Mk IIs were ever built. -

Fantastic Variety of Unlikely Cars in HRDC Race at Donington 14 Apr 2014 (News)
Early-period cars range from the rarities of David Wylie's Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire and Malcom Verey's Jensen 541R (as raced as a saloon by John Webb in period), to the more familiar Jack Sears-type Austin A95 Westminster of Nick Naismith and the Jeff Uren-style Ford Zephyr Mk2 of Alistair Dyson. Mid-period cars include the rare works-style MG1100 of Steve Atkinson, the original, ex-Lawrencetune Vauxhall VX4/90 of Paul Clayson and the stunning Graham Hill-homage Jaguar Mk2 of Simon Drabble, while the later-era cars are typified by the Alan Mann-liveried Lotus Ford Cortina Mk1 of Howard Wise and the Sir Gawaine Baillie-inspired Ford Falcon of reserve entry Mike Gardiner. HRDC Founder and Race Director, Julius Thurgood, was upbeat about the forthcoming race: "Now that most historic touring car races are usually polarised by specific models of cars that are considered to be the fastest cars of their type, it is rare to see a greater variety of marques and models competing together. -
Silverstone Classic to mark 50 years of Formula Ford 28 Nov 2016 (News)
The 50 th anniversary of Formula Ford will be celebrated at this year’s Silverstone Classic in July. Formula Ford is widely thought of as one of the world’s best proving grounds for future F1 champions and its achievements will be marked at the Silverstone event on 28-30 July.
