Audi Cabriolet (1991 - 2000)
Audi 80 Cabriolet 2.3 5 Cyl 10v
Rust proof body, Great engine with lots of torque, brilliant exhaust note, Great built quality. But its quite heavy.
Good bits :I have had the car for 3 years (Its RED,but on the pic it kind of looks a bit orangy, due to the bright sun that day), I have done no modifications to the engine or body but i have a powerflow exhaust. But i know for a fact that the in-line 5 cylinders were always known for the brilliant exhaust sound and power of a six cylinder and economy of a four cylinder. The body work is fantastic, no rust issues. Nice built quality inside and out. The engine is just naturally full of torque, you can put it in 5th gear and drive around town 20mph or 30 mph and it wont miss a beat. On Snow its fantastic, very grippy, as its front wheel drive and you can go around a bend quite fast with confidence. Whenever i stop at petrol stations, people always say ''nice car''.
On a straight line when you put your foot down it roars and the front rises like a muscle car.
Bad Bits: Good built quality has a draw back, The car is very heavy. Now, this puts a lot of pressure on the bushes, wish-bones need replacing quite often. Rear brake calipers have known to have issues too. Early models have no Pollen filter, which can lead to loads of dust, leaves and all sorts of things inside the heating system,so the fan heater and heater matrix can go wrong and it's a mission to sort that out, But only early models had that issue.
Heavy weight leads to poor economy, Bad handling and you never wanna thrash it around corners too much. the car judders on bumps (typical convertible car's issues really).
Brilliant point: ITS DEFINITLY WORTH BUYING THIS CAR. ITS A POSH LITTLE BEAST. AND THERE AREN'T MANY PEOPLE AROUND WITH THESE. IF YOU HAVE A NICE COLOURED AUDI 80 CABRIOLET, YOU'LL LOOK COOL.
