Decent family Warm Hatch, Getting long in the tooth now though...

Owned since 2 years old, now at 150k miles.

Positives: Motorway cruser, lovely comfortable and "solid" motor. Been around a longtime so any solution to a problem can be found on the web. Cheap enough to fix. Mine is high spec, full leather/climate/sunroof/heated seats etc so not to far off newer cars. Fast enough and economical enough to justify living with!

Negatives: You can get a Mk5 GTI for not a huge amount of money now, that niggles (it is a better car lets face it). 1st signs of rust now the 10 year old mark has been broken. A lot a of squeaking and rattling from cabin fixtures now. Did have a run of diagnostic light appearances though no actual mechanical fault...these have stopped for now. No cruise control, only 5 gears, thirsty in a rush, water leaks common (check those sunroof drains). Road Tax £270.

Good to knows: - Regular maintenance: Belts & water pump every 60k miles (£460 including full service), Oil and Air service (£110, every 10k miles), Bridgestone Turanza tyres (4x£50). pair of discs/pads & labour (£115)
Irregular: I have changed the turbo once (£500), clutch twice (£400 a time), thermostat and G62 temp sensor changed (£60), Ball joints/wishbones (£120).

Summary: Now over 10 years old, 1st signs of rust, cabin squeaks growing, 1st issues with suspension (recent wishbone replacement). Still quick, 0-60 in 8.1 seconds, its well looked after so all 150 horses still present. Love it to much to replace. When cleaned, polished it still looks respectable. Considering its probably worth £1k and it has been well looked after there is not sense in selling.....just yet.
